New date for the Grand Pier’s ‘Jam’ session

Monday 15th April

Bruce Foxton was named by NME as the 7th most influential bass player of all time so his performance at Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier this month will be music to the ears of fans.

Bruce, one third of legendary mod revival/punk rod band The Jam, had been due to perform at the seafront attraction at the end of March, alongside acclaimed vocalist and guitarist Russell Hastings.

But due to unforeseen circumstances, the concert had to be re-arranged and will now take place on Thursday 25 April, and tickets are still available.

As ‘From The Jam’, their show, All Mod Cons, will feature a host of chart hits from the late 1970s and 1980s, when the Jam, fronted by Paul Weller, were at the forefront of the Mod revival scene.

Fan favourites such as Down in the Tube Station at Midnight, Town Called Malice and Going Underground will all feature in the show.

The Jam played their last gig in December 1982 in Brighton after Paul Weller decided he wanted to explore other avenues, much to the surprise of Bruce and drummer Rick Buckler. It was more than two decades before Bruce would speak to Paul Weller again.

Bruce released a solo album in 1984 and played in several bands, including Sharp, alongside Buckler, before joining Stiff Little Fingers in 1990, staying until 2007 when he teamed up with Buckler again as From The Jam, together with members of Buckler’s tribute band The Gift, which had been formed the year before.

A member of The Gift was musician and passionate Jam fan Russell Hastings. Buckler left From The Jam in 2009, but Bruce and Russell have been performing together ever since.

After rocking the seaside in 2018, From The Jam hope to delight fans again on 25 April, when they will be supported by Reoffender.

Wayne Hadley, Director of ConciergeUK, which is staging the concert, said: “The gig we organised in 2018 was a huge success, and Bruce said he thought the Pier was a great venue, and asked us to ensure we came back this year, so we are looking forward to another great night on the Pier.”
